VIPA GmbH was a German programmable logic controller (PLC) manufacturer headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Germany, with a strong customer base in the packaging, food and beverage sectors and among conveyor system suppliers. In November 2013, Yaskawa Electric Corporation reached an agreement to acquire majority shares in VIPA through Yaskawa Europe GmbH, aiming to combine Yaskawa's motion control expertise with VIPA's PLC and I/O product range to deliver complete factory automation solutions. At the time of acquisition, VIPA employed 171 people and generated €42 million in sales, and its System 200V and System 300S PLC platforms — built with compatibility for Siemens' S7 programming environment — continue today as part of Yaskawa's broader automation portfolio.
