Turck was founded in 1965 when Hans Turck, running his own engineering office in Mülheim, Germany, received an order from a German chemical plant to develop an amplifier module — the first 20 units were built by his brother Werner Turck in Halver. The two brothers went on to found Turck Elektronik Feinbau, developing inductive and capacitive proximity switches, and the company remains family-owned and independent today, led by Ulrich Turck (son of co-founder Hans) and Werner's son Markus. With over 4,600 employees across 30+ countries and a catalogue spanning roughly 15,000 sensor, fieldbus, interface and connectivity products, Turck is a leading name in factory and process automation — known especially for its inductive proximity sensors, Ex-rated intrinsically safe interface products, and modular I/O systems.
