Founded in 1983 in Santa Ana, California, Triconex built the safety system technology that today protects high-hazard industrial plants worldwide.
Triconex was founded in September 1983 by Jon Wimer, with the first Tricon safety system going live in 1986. The company pioneered Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) — a patented architecture using three parallel, isolated control channels that continuously vote 2-out-of-3 on every decision, so a single module fault can never cause an unsafe shutdown failure or a costly false trip.
Acquired by SIEBE in 1994 and later part of Invensys, Triconex is today a Schneider Electric brand operating as EcoStruxure Triconex. Its safety instrumented systems (SIS) are TÜV Rheinland certified up to SIL3, and the installed base spans more than 11,500 systems globally with over a billion hours logged without a failure on demand — used extensively across oil & gas, petrochemical, and other high-hazard process industries.
