Schleicher Parts & Automation Components
Schleicher Electronic traces back to 1937, when Otto Schleicher founded Schleicher Relais Werke in Germany. In 1958 the company introduced the MZ 54 — the first multifunctional electromechanical time-delay relay — which made it internationally known. Schleicher developed its first PLC in 1976, and in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute built its own CNC numerical control kernel in 1983, making it one of the few CNC manufacturers with proprietary control software. The PROMODUL modular PLC/CNC system followed in 1988, with dedicated safety control devices introduced in 1989. Since 2003, Schleicher Electronic has been part of the Wieland Group.
