Mean Well was founded in 1982 in Taiwan by Mr. Jerry Lin, initially producing Apple and IBM-compatible switching power supplies as an OEM manufacturer — the brand name "Mean Well" was drawn from an English dictionary phrase meaning "to have good intentions." In 1986, as Taiwan's OEM/ODM electronics orders boomed, Mean Well made the deliberate decision to move away from that model and build its own branded standard power supply business instead. Today Mean Well is ranked among the world's top global power supply manufacturers, with roughly 2,800 employees, production bases in Taiwan, China and Bangalore, India, and combined group revenue exceeding USD 1.4 billion — supplying DIN-rail, enclosed and LED power supplies used across industrial control, medical and general electronics applications.
