Keysight Technologies traces its lineage to 1939, when Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard founded Hewlett-Packard in Palo Alto, California, whose first product, the HP 200A audio oscillator, built the company's early reputation for reliable test instruments. HP's measurement, components, chemical analysis and medical businesses were spun off in 1999 as Agilent Technologies, in what was then the largest IPO in Silicon Valley history, and Agilent's own electronic measurement segment was in turn spun off on 1 November 2014 as Keysight Technologies — a name formed as a portmanteau of "key" and "insight." Headquartered in Santa Rosa, California, and led by CEO Satish Dhanasekaran since 2022, Keysight reported fiscal 2023 revenue of approximately $5.46 billion, remaining a global leader in electronic design and test equipment for 5G/6G, aerospace-defense, automotive and semiconductor markets.
