GE Fanuc Parts & Automation Components
GE Fanuc Automation Corporation was established in 1986 as a joint venture between General Electric and Fanuc, combining GE's industrial expertise with Fanuc's advanced CNC technology to develop automation hardware and software. The joint venture's Series 90-30 programmable logic controller, first released in 1988, became one of the most widely deployed mid-range PLC platforms of its era — a modular, rack-based system supporting up to 4,096 I/O points and communication protocols including Genius Bus, Profibus-DP and Ethernet. GE and Fanuc dissolved their joint venture on 11 December 2009, with operations reverting to GE as GE Intelligent Platforms, before Emerson Electric acquired GE's Intelligent Platforms automation business in October 2018. Despite its age, the Series 90-30 remains a solid, cost-effective platform still relied upon for retrofits and legacy system maintenance across manufacturing and process industries worldwide.
