Fluke Corporation was founded in June 1948 by John Fluke Sr. as the John Fluke Engineering Company in Springdale, Connecticut, producing electrical test and measurement equipment before relocating to Seattle, Washington in 1952. The company developed the Scopemeter — combining oscilloscope and multimeter functionality — through a 1987 joint venture with Philips' Test and Measurement subsidiary, which Fluke fully acquired in 1993 for $41.8 million. Danaher Corporation acquired Fluke in 1998, before spinning it off in 2016 as part of Fortive Corporation (NYSE: FTV), and Fluke remains a globally recognised manufacturer of industrial test, measurement and diagnostic equipment including multimeters, thermal imagers and electrical testers.
