Eurotherm Controls was formed in June 1965 in Worthing, West Sussex, UK, to manufacture temperature controllers. Within five years, the company's entrepreneurial directors had set up several related but independent businesses — Chessell (data recorders), Turnbull Control Systems (advanced process control) and Shackleton System Drives (variable speed electronic drives) — before bringing them together as Eurotherm International in 1974 and listing on the London Stock Exchange in 1978. The company was acquired by Siebe plc in 1998 (later Invensys), then Schneider Electric in 2014, and most recently by Watlow in October 2022 — yet products have remained branded "Eurotherm" throughout six decades of corporate change, with the company remaining a globally recognised supplier of temperature and process control, data recording and power control instrumentation for glass manufacturing and other demanding industrial markets.
