Edwards Parts & Automation Components
Edwards traces its origins to 1872 in New York City, when Robert Edwards and David Rousseau founded Edwards and Company to explore commercial applications of electricity, notably contributing early inventions including the electric doorbell and burglar alarm. By 1896 the company had focused its efforts specifically on fire signaling, communications and protection equipment, and its systems have since protected landmark projects including the Holland Tunnel (1927) and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (1971). General Electric acquired Edwards in 2005, before United Technologies' Carrier division took ownership in 2010; the company's EST (Edwards Systems Technology) addressable fire alarm product line — including the SIGA series of addressable devices — remains a widely installed intelligent fire detection and life safety platform today.
