Crydom was established in 1960 in Anaheim, California, originally as a manufacturer of high-power DC motor drives, before its breakthrough invention of the world's first Solid-State Relay (SSR) in 1971. Crydom began manufacturing and marketing its first panel-mount solid-state relay in 1972, a product that went on to become the industry standard, before passing through Silicon Power Cube Corporation (1987), Schneider Electric (2006, forming the Custom Sensors & Technologies division), and finally Sensata Technologies, which acquired the CST sensing portfolio including the Crydom brand in 2015. Now operating as Sensata-Crydom, the company remains a world leader in solid-state switching technology, manufacturing panel-mount, DIN-rail, PCB-mount and plug-in solid-state relays for silent, wear-free switching across industrial automation and control applications.
