Cameron Parts & Automation Components
Cameron traces its origins to 1920, when Jim Abercrombie, Ed Lorehn, Harry Cameron and several partners incorporated an oilfield repair shop in Houston, Texas, under the name Cameron Iron Works. Abercrombie invented, and Cameron Iron Works manufactured, the oil and gas industry's first blowout preventer — a device now considered essential safety equipment on every drilling rig worldwide. The company became a subsidiary of Cooper Industries in 1989, spun off as Cooper Cameron Corporation in 1995, was renamed Cameron International Corporation in 2006, and was acquired by Schlumberger (now SLB) in 2016 for roughly $14.8 billion. Today operating as "Cameron, an SLB Company," it remains a leading global provider of pressure control, wellhead, flow control and processing systems for the oil, gas and process industries.
