Albright International was founded in 1946 by Victor Bedggood and Roland Catt in the United Kingdom, initially manufacturing specialist switchgear to customer designs before establishing its own Albright Contactor Range in 1955. The founders' sons, Tony and Nigel, joined the company in 1970 and took over its management by 1973, expanding sales into Europe (1962) and the USA (1978) and opening a second UK manufacturing facility in Whitchurch in 1986, followed by further expansion into Lithuania and China in 2008. Now in its third generation of family ownership with more than 70 years of specialised experience, Albright remains a world-leading manufacturer of DC contactors and emergency disconnect switches for electric vehicles, forklifts, rail, marine and industrial applications, with Curtis Instruments (a Parker Hannifin company) serving as its exclusive distributor across the Americas, India and China.
