Advantech was founded in 1983 in Taipei, Taiwan, by K.C. Liu together with two colleagues from HP Taiwan, starting out in the system integration business for IEEE-488 Automatic Test Systems, with their first exported product being the PCL-748 IEEE-488 card. The company launched its PC-LabCard series of industrial I/O cards, built its first industrial PC (the IPC-600) in 1990, and introduced its ADAM series of remote data acquisition and control modules in 1992, before listing on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in 1999. Now headquartered in Taipei with operations in more than 20 countries and roughly 8,000 employees worldwide, Advantech is the world's largest industrial PC manufacturer with a 41% global market share, supplying embedded computing modules, industrial computers, and industrial IoT edge intelligence solutions across factory automation, healthcare, transportation and retail sectors.
