Gefran was founded in 1969 in Provaglio d'Iseo, Brescia, Italy, by Ennio Franceschetti, whose family still controls the company today, setting up its first workshop to produce electrical panels for plastics-processing machinery. In the 1970s Gefran introduced the Adamello controller — later renamed the 1000 model — which set a benchmark for the industry, before the company expanded into sensors during the 1980s and became the leading brand in that category. Listed on the Milan Stock Exchange since 1998 and now with more than 900 employees across six production branches (Brazil, China, Germany, India, Switzerland and the US) and commercial subsidiaries in a dozen more countries, Gefran designs and manufactures sensors, power controllers, drives and automation components, with particular strength in plastics and rubber processing, mobile hydraulics and metal heat treatment.
