Who is Clipsal?
Clipsal was founded in 1920 in Adelaide, Australia, by Alfred Gerard, who developed a range of adjustable sheet-metal fittings to join the various imported electrical conduits of differing diameters found in Australia at the time — the products' ability to "clip all" sizes gave the company its name. Alfred's son Geoff took over the company and invented the first all-Australian electrical switch in 1930, later pioneering the use of thermoplastics in electrical accessories during the 1950s. Clipsal was acquired by Schneider Electric in 2003, and its Clipsal Integrated Systems division went on to develop the C-Bus home and building automation control protocol, which remains in wide use across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region today.
