Who is Carrier?
Carrier traces its origins to July 1902, when mechanical engineer Willis Carrier — then working for Buffalo Forge Company — invented modern air conditioning to solve a humidity problem at a Brooklyn printing plant. In 1908, the Carrier Air Conditioning Company of America was formed as a subsidiary of Buffalo Forge, with Willis Carrier as vice president, and the company was formally founded in its own right on 26 June 1915 in Syracuse, New York. Carrier became part of United Technologies in 1979, before being spun off as an independent, NYSE-listed public company (Carrier Global Corporation) in 2020 alongside sister company Otis Elevator — today reporting roughly $21.7 billion in annual revenue and remaining one of the world's most recognised names in HVAC, refrigeration and building automation equipment.
